    Bowyer Showing He Belongs

bowyer2.jpgIf you watch ABC or ESPN advertisements for the Nextel Cup races, you might get the impression that there’s only three drivers out on the track: Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, and Tony Stewart. The dark horse in all of this is Clint Bowyer, who entered the Chase as the 12th driver, promptly won at Loudon, and hasn’t let up yet. With the top three super-brats gobbling up attention and media coverage, Bowyer has quietly gone about his business and set his 07 RCR Jack Daniels Chevrolet to be right in the thick of things heading into the second half of the Chase. It seems like just yesterday, Tony Stewart was punting him onto the infield at Pocono and complaining about the rookie’s right to be on the racetrack—now Stewart is looking up at him in the standings. I’ve made up my mind—I’m officially jumping on the Bowyer bandwagon this season and pulling for him to hoist the trophy at the Ford 400 in Homestead, Florida. With my endorsement in hand, look for the wheels to fall off his car this week at Martinsville.
