    Back in the Saddle

Vacation is OVER and it's good to be back. It's been tough living without high-speed internet access for the past 10 days, and the Blog Sea has dried up a little as a result. Maine is a great place to visit, but holy crap is it out in the sticks! Aside from all the rain and the 4 hour commutes to and from Connecticut for school, things were pretty uneventful. I got stuck out in the middle of Long Lake on a dead jet ski for about 10 minutes, which is a pretty humbling feeling for swimmers of less-than-Olympic caliber such as myself.  I lost the lid on Big Blue on the Maine Turnpike (Wendy's cooler that she's had for like 20 years) and I almost retrieved it before a semi ran it over. Let's see...what else...oh yeah, I stepped in dog shit like three different times because my in-laws' neighbor's nephew lets his decrepit dog run all over the place to relieve himself, and he chooses my in-laws' driveway as his choice of defecation. Twice I was barefoot when it happened, so I figure if I ever want to move to the back woods of Maine I've already got the qualification of having shit between my toes!
