    Show Biz Kids

Boy, the Hollywood types must be going bonkers now! No Golden Globes, golden_globe.jpgno ceremonies, no fashion shows, no gossip, nothing! Hollywood thinks it can survive without the writers? Dunkin' Donuts would have an easier time getting by without the Jellyman! (Hey, now, there's a job for me!) And if you think the Golden Globes are some piddly little second-hand bullshit award (they are), just wait until the Oscars get creamed by the picket lines! It'll never happen because there won't be any Oscars if things keep going this way! Why? Because the greedy Entertainment Industry doesn't want to give writers their fair share of royalties in today's lucent media market? That's one side of the story. The other side is that the WGA is misleading its writers and using the strike tactic to gain ever more power in the entertainment industry on the backs of their membership. Where is the truth? Probably caught somewhere in between, just like the viewers and fans. (I'm always reminded of that old Steely Dan tune, "Show Biz Kids", which went, "Show Biz Kids making movies of themselves, you know they don't give a f*** about anyone else"--I'll leave the cussing to Don Fagen) So enjoy your I Love Lucy reruns, folks! Your entertainment world has boiled down to the latest antics of Britney Spears. Seriously, there's as much division between the Writers' Guild of America  and the Alliance of Motion Pictures and Television Producers (AMPTP), you might just as well turn your cable box into a flower box!
