    Dolphin Blue

saban%20book.jpgNick Saban has a book out called How Good Do You Want to Be? A Champion's Tips on How to Succeed at Work and in LIfe.  Huh. Wonder if there's a chapter in there entitled, "How to Ditch Your Contract and Screw an Organization", which is baically what he did to the Miami Dolphins last year. The Dolphins team that he built for 2+ seasons is now 0-7 and haven't won a game since he dropped his December bombshell that he was leaving the team to coach the Crimson Tide at Alabama. This week the winless Dolphins hosted the undefeated New England Patriots and were getting 16 points on the spread, which was gone in the 1st quarter en route to a 49-28 drubbing by Tom Brady Sunday. (Can't someone just fall on his knee already? I'm sorry, that wasn't right--it's just unbearable living in New England with the Patriots undefeated and the Red Sox in the World Series.) The Dolphins have now lost 10 in a row dating back to last season, and to make matters worse it looks like they've lost their star running back and defensive back, Ronnie Brown and Renaldo Hill, for the rest of the season with torn ACLs. It wouldn't be fair to blame all that on Saban, would it? Yes it would! How good to you want to be? We wanted to be Super Bowl champions, but you killed us, Nick! Or, to paraphrase an old Steely Dan tune, "They got a name for the winners in the world, and I want a name when I lose. They called Nick Saban to the Crimson Tide, call me Dolphin Blue!"
