    The Power of the Jinx

    Saints_NFL.bmpThe New Orleans Saints had much to be proud of this season. After a dismal, strife-ridden 2005 campaign that forced them to playevery game on the road following Hurricane Katrina's destruction of the Superdome, the Saints bounced back from that 3-13 season to post 10 regular season games and win the NFC South division title this year. The Saints were an inspiration to a city many thought would never rebound from the Katrina disaster, and after they deposed of the Philadelphia Eagles in the divisional playoffs it was clear that this was not the paper-bag-over-your-head Ain'ts of yore. The team seemed to find a new resolve under head coach Sean Peyton, who deservedly won coach-of-the-year honors in light of the team's resurgence. All the team needed to do was beat the Chicago Bears in the NFC Championship game and the Saints would complete their miraculous comeback by advancing to their first Super Bowl in franchise history.


    And then it happened. I picked them to win the Super Bowl last week, and like a Tsunami washing onto the Louisiana shoreline, all of that was swept away. I sincerely apologize to the Saints and all of the good people of New Orleans and Louisiana, you have overcome so much over the past 18 months but you didn't stand a chance against the Power of the Jinx. I should've just kept my mouth shut and picked the Patriots...
