    Fly Like an Eagle

eaglepic.jpgGood news if you're an Eagle fan--the Bald Eagle is slated to be removed off the Endangered Species list in February. Now, before you grab your shotgun and go-a eagle-huntin', rest assured there are other laws in place that'll land your ass in a sling faster than you can say "Benjamin Franklin". Also next month, the CT Audubon Society and UTC will be hosting the annual Eagle Festival in beautiful, rustic  Essex, CT. Activities during the two-day event (Feb 17th & 18th) include riverboat eagle-watching tours, Birds-of-Prey demonstrations, and children's activities, for starters. If you're in town and you've never been, it's a pretty decent way to spend and afternoon (although I wouldn't recommend missing the Daytona 500 over it!) If you happen to go, you might want to check out the Black Seal Seafood Grill or the Griswold Inn for dinner and evening entertainment as well. And if you're in town Saturday night, don't miss the singalong banjo players in the taproom of the Gris--it's a blast!

Check out the CFPA website if you're interested in the outdoors. We do a lot with protecting habitat for birds and other critters.
