    Moment of Silence

We had a moment of silence at work today for Veteran's Day. I was in the men's room at the iwo jima.jpgtime. Some things do not lend well to moments of silence. Why are we having a moment of silence for Veteran's Day anyway?  Shouldn't we be standing up and applauding or something? It's not like they're dead, right? That's why we have Memorial Day.  Of course, my company can't feel too strongly about it, otherwise they would give us the day off as a holiday.  As it stands, we can take it off without pay.  Here's the message that sends: "If you feel strongly about those men and women who have defended our country's freedom, or if you're one of those fine citizens who have served in our armed forces and would like to bask in the honor your country bestows upon you, feel free to take the day off. Just give us 20% of your paycheck first."

So that's why I stand in the mens room and try to pee quietly.  I know, I know, I'm being cynical again.
